Many citizens in the small college town of Rawlings, Montana, are unsurprised to learn that Virginia Rinaldi, the world-famous sociologist, was murdered. A few are secretly pleased. Her political enemies knew her as an ideologue who used insults, threats, and blackmail to promote her unpopular social views. When Detectives Seagate and Miner begin their investigation, they discover that a local prostitute had recently moved into the professor's house, angering Rinaldi's college-age son. And when the community learns that the prostitute made a lesbian porn video with one of Rinaldi's students, tensions on campus erupt, leading to more bloodshed. Drawn into a horrifying world of sexual violence and exploitation, Seagate devises a plan to flush out the killer. The plan appears to be on track--until Seagate unwittingly jeopardizes the life of her partner, Ryan Miner.

The Reveal A Detectives Seagate and Miner Mystery Book 6 edition by Mike Markel Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks

I enjoyed The Reveal:.... with Detectives Seagate and Minor. e After reading another book in the series, I looked forward to seeing how they would solve the crime this time. I have to admit that the ending came unexpectedly for me. I expected a different character; perhaps someone out of the blue, to come into play and to have a big surprise ending. I was not disappointed with the ending, although I usually have everything figured out long before the end. The only thing I did not like was the repetition of the non-standard language used by Detective Seagate. I realize it is in keeping with her character; however, as someone who taught English at one time, I had a difficult time with all the chopping off of 'ing' on several words - an occasional 'going to' would be nice - showing the character at least tries to speak correctly in some situations. Overall , it is a good book and an enjoyable read.

The Reveal A Detectives Seagate and Miner Mystery Book 6 edition by Mike Markel Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

Detective Seagate is back with another murder. She is still holding onto her sanity and her sobriety, for the most part. A sociology professor is murdered and there are lots of suspects. It could have been the prostitute who is living with her. It could have been one or more of her 17 students in her porn class, her son, or the religious zealot group on campus. Detectives Seagate and Miner do what they do best to catch the murderer. I would have given this four stars were it not for all the foul language, including the F-bomb lots of times. I don't think this is necessary.
Well written and I appreciate that the author does not feel it necessary to go into graphic details of violence.
Interesting beginning as it's not clear right away whether this case is even a murder--but it is. Things get more complicated as layer upon layer is eventually revealed as the detectives manage to tie the loose ends together.
Another excellent addition to this series. Markel writes with a style that flows and is consistently entertaining and intriguing. His two detective heroes are both fascinating characters, and I'm already impatiently awaiting his next book. This one was terrific.
I received this free ebook in exchange for an honest review & I was not disappointed. I really like the fact that the female character is not a "perfect 10" as most females characters are in most books. I like the fact that she is portrayed in a human light. I also like to read books in a series that can be stand alone. Really, really like this series.
This book is part of an action-packed detective series that takes place in a small Montana college town. Markel is good at putting in twists and turns and also with addressing some of the social issues of the day (many of his victims or perpetrators are people who are marginalized in society) in a way that is entertaining. His main character is a hard-bitten female detective named Karen Seagate. This character's voice, however, often comes across as very masculine in attitude and observation.
This was the first Seagate and Miner book I read. It sucked me in from the first chapter. Karen Seagate intrigues me—she's tough and funny and imperfect and vulnerable. I like that in a character. And I like how the team works together. Now I'm looking forward to reading the rest.
